Michael Biggs is a senior managing director in the FTI Consulting Corporate Finance/Restructuring practice and is based in Atlanta. Mr. Biggs is a member of the FTI Consulting Healthcare Solutions group. He has more than 14 years of experience in healthcare operations and finance. Mr. Biggs is one of the leaders of the firm’s provider practice and leads the strategy and supply chain service offerings. He focuses on assisting healthcare organizations in improving their overall margins and developing market and positioning strategies.
Experience
Mr. Biggs’ area of expertise includes hospital operational and profitability improvement; managed care feasibility and pricing; health system integration; managed care contracting strategies; medical staff development; physician acquisitions and divestitures; health enterprise strategy; physician alignment strategies; capital budgeting and planning; IT implementation and design; foreign and domestic health policy; and strategic market and feasibility assessments.
Specifically, Mr. Biggs has extensive experience in implementing margin improvements for hospitals. He has spent much of his career putting solutions into practice in the areas of operations and performance improvement, revenue cycle, supply chain, clinical documentation and productivity. Mr. Biggs has also served as a business advisor and provided strategic planning advice to a wide array of integrated delivery systems, physician management companies and national health insurers.
Mr. Biggs’ advisory services experience includes four years as a managing director in Navigant Consulting’s Healthcare Provider practice, where he was a market leader for the East Region and one year as a founding partner in Subsidium Health Advisors, a strategic advisory firm. He also served more than seven years as an industry director in Arthur Andersen’s Healthcare Consulting division in the Strategy and Performance Management practices. Prior to that, Mr. Biggs worked for more than two years as a senior consultant in Andersen Consulting’s System Integration practice.
Mr. Biggs holds a B.S. magna cum laude in finance and multinational business from The Florida State University.
